Lake Manyara National Park covers an area of 325 square kilometre and has the Great Rift Valley escarpment as a backdrop. Manyara is well known for its tree-climbing lions found lazing on branches of acacia trees. Manyara features large concentrations of elephant and buffalo. Tarangire is the best park on the northern circuit to see elephant. Wildlife viewing is exellent during July to October when many animals concentrate near the only permanent water source in the area - the Tarangire River.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in the small yet diverse Lake Manyara National Park. The lodge is located in the remote south-western region of the park, allowing for leisurely tracking of the park's famous tree-climbing lions and for unimpeded viewing of the flocks of pelicans, flamingoes and buffalo cooling in the soda lake. Although it is Tanzania’s smallest park, Lake Manyara is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. The beautiful Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park, while the rest consists of steep mountainside, swamps, dense woodlands, open grassy areas and hot springs. Each of the ten tree houses have been built on stilts, in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, discreetly tucked away in the forest.
