The
Safari Company offers you and your family the opportunity to experience
the real Africa on a family adventure safari in the untouched
wilderness of northern Botswana.
We specialise in making trips to Africa exciting, adventurous,
and educational for parents and children alike - oh and best of
all - fun! A family safaris specialist guide
ensures that this Botswana safari is an adventure of a lifetime
for the whole family.
We plan the vacation around your family’s specific
interests and expectations. What makes these trips so
unforgettable is that you can never anticipate reactions to animals,
sleeping under canvas with the wilderness "just outside",
the first time a lion roar is heard, and so many other first experiences
that are shared in this part of Africa.
Children participate in extra activities such
as: spoor casting, nature cards, learning how to track and ID
spoor, bush survival and much more… All the Botswana camps
have plunge pools and the children get to spend afternoons supervised
at the pool, while mom and dad get to relax and siesta before
the evening game drive. The specialist guide is passionate about
the bush, interpreting these wonders in an easy to understand
and fun way.
These family adventure vacations to Botswana help to educate
the next generation in the importance of conserving our
natural heritage, while also offering the opportunity to enjoy
the vast expanse of untouched wilderness that makes up northern
Botswana.
A well-planned family safari with The Safari Company will not
only give you an incredible game experience in one of the wildest
places on earth; but you and your family will share memories
that will last a lifetime. The children has an adventure
holiday so educational, they will be teaching their teachers about
biology, ecology, nature studies and much more…
Young visitors to Botswana are pleasantly surprised by the safari
programme. The specialist children's guide designs programmes
tailored to the ages and interests of the children. Initial contact
with the children begins six weeks prior to travel when they receive
a parcel from the camps in Botswana containing informative material
and information about their safari holiday activity programme.
Once in camp, your specialist guide organises all their daily
activities. Apart from the guide, this special family adventure
vacation package also includes the use of a private safari
vehicle with tracker for the family.
Botswana offers parents the opportunity to introduce their children
to a safari in a safe yet truly wild African destination.
Great news for those families who have always wanted to travel
to Africa, but were weary of malaria. Malarone has now been launched
in the UK in a children's formulation and is the first ever malaria
tablet designed just for kids. It is also licensed in the USA,
Denmark and also has become increasingly available in Europe.
Generally, many families have held back from going to Africa on
account of fear of malaria or reluctance to expose their children
to possible side-effects of medication. The launch of a children’s
formulation of Malarone will open up new opportunities for families
wishing to travel to Africa, enabling them to do so with much
greater safety and peace of mind.

The
Safari Company specialises in outstanding family safaris of all
kinds. We offer you and your family the opportunity to experience
our carefully planned family camping safari in the wilderness
areas of Botswana's Moremi Game Reserve, the Okavango Delta and
Chobe National Park. A knowledgable guide and assistant will unlock
the secrets of the African bush while staying in comfortable dome
tents (put up by the staff) and enjoying dinners around the campfire,
all in the privacy of exclusive bushcamps situated in the national
aprks and reserves. You will travel in an open sided 4x4 Land
Cruiser, perfect for game viewing and birding on those early morning
and late afternoon game drives.
Herewith
a sample itinerary to show you what's possible:
DAY 1: MAUN - OKAVANGO AREA OF MOREMI
Your
guide welcomes you at Maun Airport and we travel to our secluded
mobile bush camp in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.
DAY
2: OKAVANGO AREA OF MOREMI
The reserve is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Okavango
Delta. It is a pure wilderness area of great beauty, rich green
vegetation, palm trees, teeming with birdlife and a vast population
of animals. We spend our time exploring the area by boat and 4x4
vehicle during early morning and late afternoon game drives. (full
board)
DAY
3/4: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
We travel to the western part of the reserve today - the Khwai
flood plains - exploring the area on the way. We uncover the secrets
of this wilderness area on early morning and late afternoon game
drives. (full board)
DAY 5/6: SAVUTE - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
The Savute Marsh is the deepest part of the Mababe Depression
and it is the only part to have filled up with water in recent
history. Today the marsh is dry and attracts a large population
of animals, particularly hyena and lion. The Savute channel has
a fascinating history of flooding and drying up independently
of good, rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere, a mystery that
has intrigued geologists for many years. Our guide takes us on
game drives in the morning and late afternoon. (full board).
DAY
7/8: CHOBE RIVER - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
After 2 nights at the Savute Channel, we travel northwards and
install our bush camp near the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for
its beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets. The largest elephant
population (+-30 000) in Africa lives in the region and we may
have the opportunity to watch herds of elephant drinking at the
river. In November 1855, David Livingstone, with his 114 porters,
left the Linyanti / Chobe for the Great Falls east of Sesheke
; the falls of Mosi-oa-Tunya "The smoke that thunders".
DAY
9: VICTORIA FALLS / LIVINGSTONE
We travel to Victoria Falls / Livingstone - without doubt one
of the greatest and most unforgettable spectacles, where the waters
tumble down in continuous thunder. "Scenes so lovely must have
been gazed upon by angels in their flight" - written in David
Livingstones diary. (Hotel accommodation with breakfast)
DAY
10: VICTORIA FALLS / LIVINGSTONE
After breakfast we travel to the airport where the safari comes
to an end.
The
itinerary will depend on local conditions.
