Itinerary:
Starting
Arusha Airport/ ending Zanzibar Airport
Day 1, 2 & 3: Serengeti National Park
Upon your arrival at Arusha Airport you will be met by a Safari
Co. representative who will assist you in boarding your scheduled
flight to Klein’s Airstrip. Your flight departs at 08:00
in the morning. A short game-drive transfer (10 minutes) will
bring you to camp.
Spend three nights at Klein’s Camp. Accommodation is in
a thatched cottage with en-suite hand basins, shower and w.c.
Your stay is on a full board basis including scheduled activities
and concession fees.
Activities include game-drives and nature walks in the Klein’s
Camp private concession. The afternoon game-drives extend after
sunset with the aid of a spotlight, returning to the camp after
dark.
KLEIN’S CAMP SAFARI LODGE
Klein’s Camp is set in an exclusive private concession
deep in the heart of Maasai territory, neighbouring the buffalo-rich,
northeastern Serengeti National Park – famed for its wildebeest
and zebra Migration. Hidden among the bush-clad Kuka Hills,
Klein’s Camp comprises ten intimate cottages of local
rock and thatch with rich wooden floors and classic interiors.
Each cottage has an en-suite bathroom with shower, twin hand-basin
and w.c, and a private veranda with breathtaking views of the
valley below. Guest areas include dining area with large open
fireplace and beautifully furnished bar/sitting area, both with
sweeping views of the valley and its surrounding hills. A plunge
pool is tucked into the hillside and a crafts shop stocks locally
made Maasai crafts. Day and night game-drives in open game-viewing
vehicles lead by expert guides into the private concession –
set aside for the exclusive use of Klein’s Camp guests
– is the ultimate private Tanzanian safari with no other
vehicles for miles around. Guests can choose to enjoy their
safari on the Klein’s Camp Reserve or in the Serengeti
National Park. Bush walks and extended hikes along the quartzite
hills allow one to marvel at the scenery whilst sipping sundowners
at the crest of the hill, and bush breakfasts at spectacular
locations are a speciality.
Day 4 & 5: Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
Enjoy an early morning game-drive and breakfast before your
scheduled flight to Manyara Airstrip. A representative from
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge will meet you for your road transfer
of approximately 2 hours to the lodge.
Spend two nights at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Accommodation is
in a sumptuous double suite with en-suite hand basins, bath,
shower and private w.c. Each suite is tended by a butler. Your
stay is on a full board basis including scheduled activities
and park fees.
Activities include game-drives in the Ngorongoro Crater. Additional
activities may be booked directly at the lodge, subject to extra
cost and availability of vehicles, and include excursions to
Olduvai Gorge and Shifting Sands and a visit to a Maasai village.
NGORONGORO CRATER LODGE SAFARI LODGE
Perched on the edge of the famous Ngorongoro Crater at the eastern
edge of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is without doubt
one of the most architecturally spectacular lodges in Africa.
The Crater, considered one of the Wonders of the World, is a
World Heritage Site and shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife
havens on earth – some of Africa’s last black rhino
are protected within its rim and black-maned lions stalk the
grasslands. Inspired in design by the Maasai mud-and-stick manyatta,
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge comprises three separate and intimate
camps, North Camp and South Camp (12 suites each) and Tree Camp
(6 suites). The sumptuous suites are steeped in romance reminiscent
of a bygone era, with stilted, handcrafted structures adorned
in graceful antiques, grand chandeliers and Pan African treasures.
All of this, however, remains subordinate to the magnificence
of the verdant Crater views through the window of every room.
Each suite is discreetly tended by a personal butler, who will
bring you tea in bed, stoke your fireplace and even draw your
bath, scattering the water with rose petals, ready for your
return from your safari and lavish picnic on the Crater floor.
Guest areas at each camp include sitting and dining areas, outdoor
dining areas, viewing decks and a superb craft gallery, all
with awe-inspiring views of the Crater below. Activities include
a daily game-drive in closed game-viewing vehicles to the Crater
floor and walks along the Crater rim. At an additional cost
and subject to availability of vehicles, visits to local Maasai
manyattas and excursions to the archaeologically significant
Olduvai Gorge or fascinating Shifting Sands can be arranged.
Day 6, 7, 8 & 9: Mnemba Island
Enjoy an early morning breakfast. Transfer to Manyara Airstrip
for your scheduled flight to Arusha Airport. Upon arrival at
12:20, you connect onto your scheduled flight to Zanzibar Airport
where you will be met by a representative from Mnemba Island
for your road and boat transfer of approximately 1 hour and
45 minutes to the lodge.
Spend four nights at Mnemba Island. Accommodation is in a beach
banda on raised platforms, made of indigenous woven palm, palm
fronds and fine basket weave with en-suite shower twin hand
basin and separate w.c. Your stay is on a full board basis including
scheduled activities.
Activities include scuba diving (2 dives per day), snorkelling,
kayaking, salt water fly-fishing, wind-gliding, kites and windsurfing.
MNEMBA ISLAND LODGE ISLAND LODGE
Situated on an intimate private island just off the north-eastern
tip of Zanzibar, surrounded by its own atoll of coral reefs
within a Marine Conservation Area, Mnemba Island Lodge offers
privacy and rustic exclusivity unparalleled on the East African
coastline. An hour-and-a-half drive from Zanzibar Airport or
Stone Town brings you to the beach from where you wade knee-deep
to an awaiting ski-boat for a 20-minute crossing to Mnemba Island.
Ten secluded split-level beach bandas, built on platforms raised
off the beach sand, carefully locate to ensure privacy, have
been made of natural local materials, each featuring a spacious
bathroom, with shower, twin hand-basins, and separate w.c. The
elevated bedrooms are generously proportioned, and simply furnished
with king sized, extra-length beds swathed in billowing muslin
nets. Beach level verandas at each banda offer built-in barazas
– perfect for afternoon siestas, comfortable chairs for
reading, and a writing table. There are also outdoor swing beds,
and private beach salas feature traditional Zanzibari loungers.
The dining and bar areas have been built along organic lines,
allowing unimpeded access to breathtaking sea views. The atmosphere
is relaxed and informal to match Mnemba’s rustic beauty.
Guests can enjoy snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking and scuba
diving, and between December and March Mnemba’s rare green
turtles can be seen laying their eggs. Deep-sea fishing and
PADI diving courses are available at an additional cost. A walk
around the Island reveals a variety of sea birds whilst snorkelling
amongst the coral reefs introduces one to the magnificent colourful
aquatic world. Mnemba Island is closed annually during the monsoon
season from 1 April to 31 May inclusive.
