A
special area has been set aside in the Selinda Reserve especially
for walking safaris. The area is located along the Selinda Spillway,
a water course linking Botswana's Okavango Delta to the Linyanti
Swamps. The walks take you along time-worn trails, through riparian
forest and open plains.
DAY 1: MAUN TO THE SELINDA RESERVE
Typically, guests undertaking walking safaris, commence their
safari at of one of the permanent camps (Selinda
or Zibalianja), with normal camp activities. A
briefing takes place in the evening with the Trails Guide.
DAY 2: START THE WALKING SAFARI
The safari departs early, arriving at the first overnight trails
camp before lunch. After lunch and siesta, the afternoon
is spent walking in the vicinity of the camp, with a sundowner,
followed by dinner.
DAY 3: WALKING
After breakfast depart on the next trail, arriving at the next
overnight camp before lunch. After the walk in the afternoon,
we enjoy a night game drive to experience the nocturnal mammals
of the African bush.
DAY 4: WALKING
After breakfast depart on the final leg of the trail, arriving
at base camp before lunch (Selinda or Zibalianja). Most guests
opt to stay overnight, but you have the option to end the safari
today to fly to another destination.
DAY 5: THE SAFARI END
Today the safari comes to an end. After breakfast, you board
a light aircraft for the transfer to Maun or onward destination.
Activities:
Approximately 6-8
kilometres inter-camp walking in the morning, and 4 kilometres
walking in the vicinity of camp each afternoon.
Enjoy the skills and bushlore of a traditional bushman tracker.
Night spotlight drives in big game country aboard a 4x4 Landcruiser.
The chance to try out a bit of fishing or enjoy the birding
and scenery.
What you are likely to see:
Elephant,
lion, cheetah, wilddog, varied plains game, and great birdlife.
Walking safaris are closely in touch with nature. Our guide
and tracker will introduce the smaller creatures, and stalk
you up on the big game. Night gamedrives seek out the nocturnal
animals.

International flights, personal expenses, airport and
departure taxes, visa costs, comprehensive travel insurance,
bar purchases (imports), curio shop, tips and gratuities, road/air
transfers, use of email/fax services, and any item not included
on an itinerary.
Activities:
Several hours walking
per day in one of the most unique wildlife areas in Africa,
night drives, game drives when at base camps.
Best season:
From March to October are the cooler months in southern Africa.
October can be relatively warm as it is the start of summer.
As the safari is conducted on foot, the wildlife will always
be good as the noise and distractions are kept to a minimum.
The birdlife are excellent in September and October as the migratory
birds return from their northern homes to breed in the mild
climates of southern Africa.

Start
this safari at the famous Victoria Falls - one of the natural
wonders of the world. Stay at a luxury lodge (River
Club, Islands of Siankaba, Royal Livingstone (excl. dinner) or Victoria Falls Safari Lodge) situated on the banks of
the upper Zambezi. Fly from Maun to Kasane and transfer to Victoria
Falls/ Livingstone by road.
to Chobe National Park:
Fly
from Selinda airstrip to Kasane, then transfer to the lodge
of your choice in the Chobe area, renowned for its predators
and large concentrations of game, particularly elephant.
