The
perfect combination for a holiday of a lifetime - a safari in
the wilds of Africa and a tropical beach vacation on an island
in the Bazaruto Archipelago. This safari and beach holiday includes
the stuff dreams are made of! This safari is flexible and can
be shortened or lengthened to suit your specific requirements.
DAY
1 - 6: AN AFRICAN SAFARI IN THE KRUGER AREA (SABI SAND GAME
RESERVE)
The safari part of your holiday are spent in the world renowned
Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering Kruger National Park, at a
lodge called Elephant Plains. It offers both luxury and standard
chalets.
Elephant
Plains Game Lodge offers you comfortable style and exclusivity
in one of the world's few remaining unspoiled wilderness areas
- the world famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which forms part
of the 2,2 million hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Over
many years our strict conservation policies and successful wildlife
management have resulted in a multitude of African game species
to be found in this area. Here you will come face to face with
Africa’s famous Big Five - Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion
and Leopard. Rare species such as the endangered wild dogs and
cheetah are also seen regularly. The area is typical African
savannah with a large variety of antelope, birds and reptiles
to be found.
Elephant Plains overlook a scenic plain where a whole array
of game and birds frequently visit the waterhole. It is home
to a maximum of 12 guests ensuring personalised service and
maximum comfort. The lodge features five spacious appointed
thatched chalets with individually styled interior décor
and en-suite bathrooms. Mosquito nets and air-conditioning are
just a few of the creature comforts.
The highlight of your visit is the thrill of close encounters
with wildlife from the safety of open 4x4 vehicles. Daily activities
include the early morning and afternoon game drives in search
of the Big Seven. A bush walk is offered every day after breakfast,
which will open up a new world of smaller fauna and flora. The
afternoon game drive affords you the opportunity to have a sundowner
at a carefully selected venue in the African bush.
Evening meals are served around a fire in the boma under the
vast African sky. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style
in the thatched lapa. Adjacent to the swimming pool, the wooden
deck offers spectacular views overlooking the waterhole and
scenic plain . The care with which each meal is prepared together
with the setting of the open-air boma or thatched lapa , ensure
an unforgettable dining experience .
Our
personalised service is of the highest standard due to the exclusivity
and smallness of the lodge. Your personal guides - an experienced
game ranger and local Shangaan tracker - are keen to share their
knowledge and love of the African bush with you.

DAY
6 - 11: A BEACH ISLAND HOLIDAY ON A TROPICAL ISLAND (BAZARUTO)
The island part of your African vacation takes you to the Bazaruto
Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique on a tropical island
called Benguerua at an idyllic ‘spot’ called Marlin
Lodge.
Marlin
Lodge is situated on the southwest shore of Benguerra Island,
the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago off the
cost of Mozambique. This unspoilt area offers some of the finest
scuba diving sites and some of the best deep-sea fishing in
the world.
The
lodge comprises of 19 chalets - all built on stilts with wooden
decks, reed walls and thatched roofs. All the rooms are connected
by elevated walkways from the back and are en-suite with their
own private verandah and a wooden walkway leading down to the
beach directly in front of each unit. The lodge also offers
a swimming pool and beautiful recreation areas.
Experienced
chefs prepare dinners, consisting of a wide array of seafood
specialties. Dinners are either served in the main dining area
or on the beach in front of the lodge where a wonderful selection
of seafood is prepared over the open fires on the beach. Wonderful
palm trees set in indigenous gardens surround the whole lodge,
and the sea views are spectacular. The water temperature ranges
between 23C and 26C. This makes outings of scuba diving and
snorkelling combined with a picnic lunch on one of the many
beautiful island beach locations very popular. Other activities
include ocean-ski paddling, windsurfing, hobiecat sailing and
island drives.
Marlin
Lodge is a typical African Island getaway offering guests tranquil
surroundings along with an array of water and land activities.
Marlin Lodge is also an ideal honeymoon destination with many
secluded spots for romantic dinners under the stars or walks
along the moonlit beach.

Lodge:

Private Luxury Chalets with private walkways onto the
sandy white beaches. The Private Luxury chalets are 60sqm on the inside and have a 17sqm veranda. The inside of the chalets is constructed with more sophisticated finishes including slated flooring, plastered surfaces and soft lighting. These chalets are ideal for guests staying a longer period of time, as they offer more space and comfort.
Features: En-Suite bathroom, Shower, roof fan, air-conditioning, four-poster bed with mosquito netting, his and her basins, vanity area, inside & outside showers, open plan bathroom ( including shower facility), private lounge, private veranda with deck chairs, mini bar, 2 seating lounges, private walkway to the beach.
A maximum of 2 guests per Private Luxury Chalet.
Executive Suites - Boasting with 80sqm floor space, and a veranda of 30sqm, this room is the perfect haven for the discerning traveler. Similar to the Private Luxury Chalets, the inside of the chalets is constructed with more sophisticated finishes such as slated flooring, plastered surfaces and soft lighting.
Features: En-Suite bathroom, double basins , separate vanity area, shower, air-conditioning, king size four-poster bed with mosquito netting, open plan bathroom ( including shower), mini bar, coffee & tea making facilities, 2 seating lounges, private outside shower, private veranda with deck chairs & hammock, private walkway to the beach.

• Children Policy: Marlin Lodge accepts children of all
ages
• Health: Mozambique is a Malaria region so it is advisable
that you consult your doctor about some form of Malaria prophylactic.
• Visas: A Marlin Lodge representative will meet guests
arriving at Vilanculos and assist them with arranging the relevant
visas needed for entry in to Mozambique.
• Access to the lodge: There are direct flights daily
to Vilanculos from Johannesburg, Maputo and KMIA (Nelspruit).
The lodge will meet you at Vilanculos airport, then escort you
to the harbour and provide a boat transfer to the island. These
transfers are included in the rates.
