Letaka Safaris is a safari company based in Maun, Botswana offering scheduled safari departures as well as private and tailor-made safaris throughout the year. The majority of the safaris are comfortable mobile safaris meaning that there is a team that sets up camp ahead of time and prepares all meals. Our focus on safari is to give guests comfortable accommodation along with the best guides in the business, meaning that the guests can focus on the exceptional game viewing on offer.
'Letaka' is derived from the Setswana word 'lethlaka' which is the name given to the Phragmites reeds found in large parts of the Okavango Delta. As a result of their surname, co-founders Brent & Grant Reed were known as the 'Lethlaka Brothers' since their arrival in the delta and so settled on the name of Letaka Safaris for their company which would become renowned for it's excellent guiding standards. Letaka Safaris has also established itself as Botswana's foremost birding safari outfitter and the company now organises birdwatching tours throughout Southern Africa.

Letaka Safaris was created by brothers, Brent and Grant Reed, both with decades of experience in the African bush. With a deep passion for everything Africa, they set out to create a safari experience that guarantees the highest level of guiding and an intimate African experience. All of the Letaka guides are professionally trained with formal qualifications including post graduate degrees. Their knowledge and an eye for detail are evident in their work, and the wealth of experience as well as a passion for the bush is unsurpassed.
Each journey has been designed by Letaka Safaris to give the discerning guest a holistic African experience. Our safaris offer variety, adventure, fun and an in-depth experience of the African wilderness. Our most popular trips are the tented safaris, which include our walking and driving mobile safaris. Our lodge safaris are also available for those requiring the highest level of comfort. While all our safaris offer a holistic African experience Letaka Safaris has long been known as THE birding company in Botswana and is the first company to offer scheduled birding departures for individuals passionate about birds.

| Letaka uses Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana Sites (HATAB) within the National Parks and Game Reserves which are exclusive wilderness sites and can only be booked by members of HATAB. There are no fixed buildings or facilities at these sites and the entire camp is erected and removed by the Letaka support team. |

The tents are 9x15ft wilderness tents with high roof and a 9ft covered area in front of the tent. The tents are fitted with high camp beds made up with mattresses, sheets, duvets and pillows and have en-suite long drop toilet facilities and a bucket shower at the rear of the tent. Showers can be ordered as hot, cold or warm and the water is heated in a bucket on the fire. Both hand towels and bath towels are supplied for the guests' convenience but please note that guests should bring their own personal items and toiletries.
Each tent has an oil/paraffin lamp on the veranda and in the bathroom and within the tent itself, a LED rechargeable camp light is supplied along with a side table in the sleeping area and in the bathroom.
For families travelling with younger children on private trips, Letaka Safaris have designed a family safari tent, ensuring the children's safety and their parent's peace of mind. A family tent is a two-bedroom unit with an adjoining bathroom and lockable exit/entrance with each tent taking 2 people in each. |

| There is a dining tent where meals are served but due to the excellent weather and skies often dinner will be served beneath the stars. All meals are served on table and are prepared by the camp chef, dinner is 3-course. |

Activities on safaris include game drive (looking for wildlife from vehicle), walking safaris, boating and night drives. Not all safaris include all of these activities.
Walking and night driving depend on getting bookings for areas outside of the National Parks as these activities are not allowed within the Park boundaries. |

Our vehicles are spacious and comfortable taking a maximum of 9 guests or 7 guests on the window seat only departures.
All our vehicles are fitted with inverters and strip plugs allowing guests to charge batteries whilst on safari with us using the ac charger that came with your appliance. |

Apart from the conventional wildlife viewing safaris Letaka Safaris offers specialized birding safaris. The company is recognized as "The" birding safari company and is the first company in Botswana to offer scheduled departures specifically for birders.
These safaris include, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. |
