LOCATION
• 20kms from Sesriem which is the main gateway to the Namib-Naukluft Park and the dunes at Sossusvlei.

November and December - The camp is normally closed but can be opened if entire camp is booked out with a minimum of eight people for two nights.
July - October - high season

ACCOMMODATION
There are nine tents, comprising five twin bedded tents, one honeymoon tent with queen-sized bed, 2 triple tents, a family unit and one single and one twin pilot/guide tent located behind kitchen (basic).
This camp can accommodate 22 guests.

Tent details:
• All tents are elevated on wooden decks with double glass doors on the front, to allow for a maximum view over the mountains and red dunes
• All tents are en-suite with shower, flush toilet and hand basin
• Solar powered overhead fans
• Soap, shampoos, insect repellent are supplied in each room
• Bottled water is supplied free of charge in each tent.
KULALA TENTED CAMP DESCRIPTION

Kulala Tented Camp is a nine-roomed camp situated in the heart of Namibia’s Namib Desert on a 46,000 acre private reserve near Sossuvlei. The camp is built at the foot of a mountain and comprises of 9 tents on elevated wooden decks which are linked to the main dining room, bar, reception area and swimming pool by pathways. The interiors are simple yet stylish and each tent has solar powered 12V lighting and an en suite bathroom with solar heated hot water. The main dining area, bar and reception are built from canvas with thatch roofing. There is a fully stocked bar and traditional 3 course meals are served at dinner. At night, lanterns light the main area. On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, wildlife here is sparse but fascinating. Sightings of animals such as Springbok, Gemsbok, Ostrich, Bat-eared Fox and Aardwolf are exciting in these rugged conditions. Activities comprise of excursions to Sossusvlei, early morning ballooning (at extra cost), guided walks and nature drives.

CAMP DESCRIPTION

• The main area is elevated on a wooden deck under thatch with sliding glass doors to allow for panoramic views
• A large outside verandah area with views of the mountains
• Bar and dining area
• Small deck and plunge pool
• Outside eating area

ACCOMMODATION
Number of units:
Eight chalets in total comprising:
• 7 x "kulalas" each with twin beds (there are 4 extra beds available for children/triples)
• 1 x family room which sleeps 5
• 4 x tour leader/guides can be accommodated in rondavels
19 guests in total can be accommodated plus tour leaders
Chalet details:
• Each "kulala" is especially adapted to the unique desert conditions, built on a platform to ensure maximum airflow, thatch roof provide a cool respite from the sun
• Ceiling fans ensure a breeze at all times.
• All rooms are en-suite with shower, flush toilet and hand basin.
• Each room has a private veranda with view of the majestic dunes without seeing the neighbours.
• A private rooftop area on top of the bathroom gives guests the opportunity of spending a night under the magnificent night sky for which bedrolls are available.

ACTIVITIES AT KULALA TENTED CAMP
• Nature drives into the desert in 3 x 10 seater and 1 x 6 seater 4 x 4 vehicles
• Walking Trails & Guided walks
• Visits to Bushman painting sites
• Excursions to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon
• Balloon safaris (additional cost, even if guests are on Fully Inclusive rate. Closed 15 January to 15 February)
• Horse riding safari (on request and at an additional cost)
• The Scenic sundowner tour is one of the best scenic safaris in the Namib. This exclusive tour is ended with a Champagne sundowner.
• Private vehicles can be booked at an additional cost, subject to availability.
• The Namib-Naukluf Park
• Night Drives after dinner

GAME VIEWING
The area is known for its physical beauty and some of the highest dunes in the world. This is not a game viewing area, but, there are fairly good sightings of Oryx , Springbok, Cape Fox, Jackal, Bat-earred Foxes and Aardwolf.
Plant species are desert adapted and spectacular especially the unusual Moringa and Quiver trees.
