Safaris in Africa Zambia Travel Guide - discover Zambia's wildlife, people and places

zambia travel guide

Zambia is known as the 'real Africa', and with good reason. It is a destination that offers some of the wildest safaris on the continent and the unspoilt beauty of Zambia contributes to the authentic safari experience. The must-do activities when visiting Zambia is a walking safari in South Luangwa, and a canoe safari down the Lower Zambezi. While you're in Zambia, don't miss the spectacular Victoria Falls!

Other unique places to visit and things to do are the annual wildebeest migration that takes place in Liuwa Plains National Park. There is also a very interesting bar migration that happens around November in Kasanka where millions of bats visit the area to feast on the fruits. And if you head north, try to see the Shoebill, an odd looking bird that is a major 'spot' for every birder!

Zambia's people are friendly and helpful. You'll appreciate the knowledge of the Zambian people as you travel from placeto place in this fascinatingly wild destination.

Let one of the Zambia Travel Experts plan your holiday to Zambia.

wildlife safaris

zambia wildlife safaris   Zambia is known for its pristine, unspoilt wilderness areas! The many national parks and game reserves are home to some of Africa's beautiful wildlife species such as lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, a wide range of antelope, and some of the most spectacular birds found on this continent!

walking safaris

zambia walking safari   The South Luangwa National Park is the birth place of the original walking safari. Norman Carr, Robin Pope and John Coppinger, to name a few, has perfected this art of bush exploration. This is one of the best ways to experience the Zambian bush and to intimately understand how things work on ground level. Enjoy a day walk or a multi-day walking safari in Zambia.

4x4 trips

zambia 4x4 routes   Zambia has some serious 4x4 destinations! It is remote and at times you'll find yourself days from the nearest town. It is a good idea to venture into Zambia in a group of travelers and be prepared for any situation, so self-sufficiency is the name of the game! If you choose your travel time well you can experience a wildebeest migration, beautiful wilderness camping and remote destinations.

canoe safaris

zambia canoe safari   The Lower Zambezi Valley and the river that runs through it forms the border between Mana Pools in Zimbabwe and the Zambezi Escarpment in Zambia offers one of Africa's most pristine wilderness destinations. And the best way to discover the secrets that lie along this stretch of river is by canoe. It truly is an experience of a lifetime and a great way to get close to nature!

camping

camping zambia   Zambia can be explored by camping in the wilderness areas in and around the national parks and reserves. Nothing beats the atmosphere of a camp fire while listening to the night sounds of Africa! Camping is also an affordable way to travel but it means you have to have your own vehicle and equipment or join an organised camping safari as part of a group.

tiger fishing

zambia tiger fishing   In the waters of the mighty Zambezi lurks a tiger that offers you a challenge like no other fresh water fish! These fighters will keep you entertained for hours as you spend your day on the Zambezi River trying to catch a tiger fish that will make you proud! Most lodges along the Zambezi offer tiger fishing, but find out if you need to bring your own tackle.
