Phantom
Forest
Situated
in a 138-hectare indigenous forest with wonderful views of the Knysna Lagoon
and the surrounding mountains, this lodge offers something very unique.
On
arrival guests are met at the gatehouse where cars are parked and from there
you take a 4x4 drive through the indigenous forest, up a very steep hill to
the main lodge. The whole lodge has been built using natural sustainable materials
and glass.
The ten tree suites are a delightful surprise.
These large comfortable wooden suites are built on stilts to get the best view
over the trees with the "piece de resistance" being the bathroom.
En-suite and also on stilts, surrounded by glass windows that open, one can
relax in bubbles while listening to the fish eagle cry!!
Dinners are an African affair. The head chef, Greg Milling, is a master in his
own right. Drawing on ideas from Pan-African cuisine, using local produce (most
of which is organically grown) and being inspired by the natural surroundings
he creates wonderful meals that will please all guests. Dinners are a series
of four courses served under a canopy of stars surrounded by trees and next
to a roaring fire.
