Kosi Forest Lodge
The bedrooms are thatched on wooden decks, the first bathroom is also under thatch and the second bathroom is a reed-enclosed boma with the bath and shower thatched bedroom on a wooden deck leading onto a reed-enclosed boma with the bathroom and shower sunk into white forest sand. The lodge has become increasingly renowned as a honeymoon destination.
From Kosi Forest Lodge enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the warm Indian Ocean along the untouched Maputaland coastline. The Kosi Lake Estuary comprises four lakes which change from crystal clear salt water in the estuary through to black hippo waters in the Raffia Forest on the fourth lake. Guided canoeing through the lakes, channels and the Raffia Forest is a must. Bird watching is particularly good. The Sihadla Channel which feeds the fourth lake is home to both Pel's Fishing Owl and Palm Nut Vulture, the only fruit eating vulture in the world. Or simply enjoy our sultry weather and tranquil surroundings in the sandforest immediately surrounding the lodge and our swimming pool overlooking the lake.
Turtle tracking (November to January) is offered in the evenings. Giant Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles make their way home having swum the length of the continent in a return journey to the beach where they were born. Research has shown that eggs are often laid within metres of where the mother emerged as a hatchling years ago. Utmost precaution is taken to ensure that she is not disturbed.
