Virunga National Park, a World Heritage site, is inviting tourists on an overnight trek to a spectacular eruption of Mount Nyamulagira in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The volcano erupted first on November 06 and has several lava fountains spewing up to 200m into the air. Rivers of lava are flowing slowly north into an uninhabited part of the park and pose no danger to its critically endangered mountain gorillas.

» Treks leave from the Goma Tourism office at 10:00 am, returning the following day at 1:00 pm.
» Trek lasts 3-4 hours each way on a flat but rough trail.
