I had dinner with friends last night at Steve’s house and Durban is on the chilly side, so Lara’s fantastic chicken curry with naan bread was perfect.

Steve returned from a 3 month trip around Africa yesterday afternoon. He quite a top job to take time off and explore Africa – something he’s dreamed about for years. Steve joined friends in an 80 series Land Cruiser and visited Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Conversations revolved around the sights, sounds, cuisine, cultures, transport, beaches, people and animals.

I love these times. It shows me why I have such a passion for Africa… Let me share some of the highlights of his trip – the perfectly made macchiato in a little eatery in the mountains of rural Ethiopia, the charm of Lamu Island, the dense forests of Bwindi and the Dar es Salaam taxi incident (that’s for another time).

Steve will be sending through some pictures of his trip once he’s settled back in. But the one thing I thought you should see is the tailored suit Steve had made in Addis Ababa for only US$85! He said that it’s the best suit he’s had and if he knew how good the quality would be and he had the time, he would’ve ordered 3 more.

So here it is but please excuse the quality of the photos as it was taken with my cellphone.

The quality of workmanship is outstanding and it makes me proud to be African!
