Thinking of taking a hike in the Drakensberg Mountains? Grant Pitcher recently did a 3-day hiking trip to summit Giant’s Peak (3310m) and spent two nights on the escarpment. Here is his photographic report of their experiences in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa.
The Drakensberg Mountains stretches in a north-south direction from the Kruger National Park (near Hoedspruit) all the way to the south where it flows into the Maluti Mountains in the southern reaches of Lesotho. The Drakensberg (which means ‘Dragons Mountain’ if translated directly from Dutch to English) is a spectacular sight for hikers, birders and outdoor enthusiasts. It attracts thousands of travelers who enjoys the mountain landscapes and the exceptional hiking trails. Other activities on offer includes trout fishing, rock climbing, birding, horse riding and mountain biking.
Grant Pitcher takes some pretty spectacular photographs! He does great architectural photography and has photographed lodges and boutique hotels specifically with the purpose of shooting marketing pictures to be used in brochures and websites.
