R ocktail Beach Camp, hidden away along Maputaland’s beautiful coastline, offers perhaps the most unspoilt beach experience in South Africa, where endless white beaches invite you to play, relax and enjoy superlative dive spots and reef systems boasting healthy coral life.

Rocktail Beach Camp has a central dining room, bar and lounge with a large wrap-around veranda. A raised viewing deck just off the veranda has wide views that extend out to the ocean. The camp’s main area has a large pool, curio shop and children’s playroom, complete with board games and other fun activities for families.  From a scuba diving perspective, Rocktail Bay is unique. Not only is the diving conducted within a Reserve and World Heritage Site along unspoiled reefs, but divers have the luxury of knowing that they alone have access to these sites and are the only underwater visitors along this stretch of the coastline.

When we travel with our kids we choose places that offer kids activities. Rocktail Beach Camp has plenty of activities to keep young ones entertained. The Camp also has great rates for kids making it an affordable family destination.

The accommodation is set in the forest in the form of tented rooms (well designed canvas walled rooms on wooden decks). We stayed in a family unit with two separate rooms and an en-suite bathroom. This isn’t a “roughing it” type of camp – the tents are lovely, the open air lodge area is fantastic, and the service is wonderful. The highlight is the spectacular beach which is about a 15 minute walk through the coastal forest.

The guides are highly experienced – two of the guides that took us on our beach excursions have been with the company for over 20 years each!

Our two nights were not enough. We would’ve enjoyed a third as there are so much to do in the area.

My favourite coast! over 40 years of unbeleivable memories … nothing can compare to the rustic UNDER stated but comfortable places where you really get down to the basics of just being totally in touch with the the beauty and wonder of our natural world!! Would love to visit, what are prices?
