Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha

Upon your arrival in Kilimanjaro, you will be collected from the airport and transferred to your lodge in the lush forests surrounding the town of Arusha. We have the rest of the day at leisure and to prepare for your safari. Our pre-departure briefing will take place over dinner, where your guide will be able tell you what to expect over the next two weeks and answer your questions.

Accommodation: Moivaro Coffee Plantation Lodge or similar

Day 2: Arusha - Manyara National Park - Manyara

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel for an early start to the experience of a lifetime! We visit the Arusha Market for some last minute preparation, before setting off towards Manyara, today's destination.
After settling in at the lodge, we will have lunch and then set off on our first game drive of the safariā€¦ This will be an afternoon game drive in Manyara National Park.

Accommodation: Rift Valley Photographic Camp or similar

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Today we explore the Lake Tarangire National Park after breakfast. We leave the camp for a full day of game viewing. Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the centre of the annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra.

Accommodation: Rift Valley Photographic Camp or similar

Day 4: Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater - Lake Ndutu

Ngorongoro Crater is our destination for today and we will have an early departure for this world renowned area. For many, this wildlife spectacle is the pinnacle of safari experiences and the Ngorongoro Crater boasts all of the 'Big 5', including a small population of the endangered black rhino. After lunch we head towards Lake Ndutu and our lodge, with the added bonus of a game drive in the Conservation Area.

Accommodation: Ndutu Safari Lodge or similar

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today we have a morning game driving around Lake Ndutu after breakfast. Lake Ndutu forms a shallow basin, where water accumulates from the nearby areas of slightly higher altitude. The water here is extremely saline, too saline for human consumption. However, Lake Ndutu becomes alive with animals during the migration because it is surrounded by the Ndutu woodlands and the short grass plains, which provide ample cover and food. We return to the lodge for lunch and will experience a guided game walk this afternoon.

Accommodation: Ndutu Safari Lodge or similar

Day 6 : Lake Ndutu - Serengeti National Park

This morning we will move further north towards the Seronera area of the Serengeti. The Serengeti is divided into three main areas: Seronera is the most central and accessible region and this is where the Park HQ is based, as well as most of the larger lodges and busier campsites. This is the part of the Serengeti that you will have seen in wildlife documentaries, characterised by the open plains of grassland, packed with animals. The Seronera River is the lifeblood of the Serengeti and this area is renowned for great game viewing all year round. It is also particularly good for lion, cheetah and leopard sightings.

Accommodation: Kananga Special Tented Camp or similar

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

We spend a full day game driving around the Serengeti today and depending on the time of year, your guide will take you to the best game viewing areas.

Accommodation: Kananga Special Tented Camp or similar

Day 8: Serengeti National Park - Masai Mara National Park

This morning after breakfast, we continue our journey northwards and cross the border into Kenya, before heading to the Masai Mara National Park. This is the traditional land of the Masai people; nomadic herders, who choose a traditional lifestyle and who are permitted to graze their cattle in this area. Their traditional red clothing and graceful stance (normally balanced on one leg) make them easily identifiable.
(Please note - this is a long driving day and includes a border crossing!)

Accommodation: Masai Mara Eden Tented Camp or similar

Day 9: Masai Mara

After yesterday's long drive, we begin the day with a leisurely breakfast. Later on this morning, we will go for a bush walk around the area and visit one of the Masai Villages, before returning to camp for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

Accommodation: Masai Mara Eden Tented Camp or similar

Day 10: Masai Mara

Today we spend the whole day game viewing in the world famous Masai Mara National Park. The various habitats are home to a great variety of game including lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest (gnu), giraffe, buffalo, jackal, topi, gazelles, impala and elephant. Hippopotamus and crocodile are plentiful in these rivers and the bird life is also abundant.

Accommodation: Masai Mara Eden Tented Camp or similar

Day 11: Masai Mara - Nairobi

Today after breakfast we head off towards Nairobi, the capitol city of Kenya. We have the afternoon at leisure or to explore the city. Nairobi is a cosmopolitan, lively and interesting city. Its central business district is nicely compact and it is therefore a great place to tune into modern urban African life.

Accommodation: Ole-Sereni Hotel or similar
(Please note that meals in Nairobi are excluded from the package)

Day 12: Nairobi - Amboseli

After breakfast we leave Nairobi and make our way towards Amboseli National Park.
We will have welcome "sundowners" on a deck overlooking a waterhole and then proceed on an exciting night game drive.

Accommodation: Amboseli Porini Camp or similar

Day 13: Amboseli National Park

Today we will go into the Amboseli National Park for a full day game drive. Amboseli is famous for its huge elephant bulls with their magnificent tusks, which make for the ultimate safari picture with the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro in the background.

Accommodation: Amboseli Porini Camp or similar

Day 14: Amboseli - Arusha

After coffee this morning, we do an early walking safari in the conservation area, before making our way to the border and then onwards to Arusha.
On the way we pass though the town of Moshi, gateway to Kilimanjaro National Park. Your lodge is situated close to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for an easy connection with your outbound flight tomorrow.

Accommodation: Moivaro KIA Lodge or similar

Day 15:Arusha

The tour ends after breakfast this morning and you can proceed to the airport for your outbound flight, or alternatively you will be dropped at our offices for other onward arrangements that you have made.
